ALL STAR CAST FROM LONDON & US
TO SPOTLIGHT BRITISH PANTO ON MIAMI BEACH
MIAMI BEACH, FL - Gold Coast Theatre Company, a 20-year veteran nonprofit performing arts organization, will present an all-star cast production of the traditional British Panto Robin Hood & the Babes in the Wood for limited-engagement performances opening December 26 and closing January 11.
The traditional British Panto will headline an all-star cast from England and the US, including Mike Winters – international star of British TV and theatre, who also wrote the book that the Show is based on.
Mr. Winters is participating in the production for the love of Panto and the importance of keeping theatre alive.
"The children's faces light up with laughter, and it's great that they are experiencing a live legacy, instead of just watching TV," Mike said. "We've got a spectacular cast that's working hard to create a memorable Panto, and the kids' reaction makes it all worthwhile."
All performances of Robin Hood & the Babes in the Wood will take place on Miami Beach at Temple Emanuel, 1701 Washington Avenue. Show times vary and include matinees and evening performances.
"British Pantomime is not a mime show. In fact, one could say it's the opposite of a silent show," said Producer Jude Parry. "It's a play with music, singing, lots of comic dialogue, drama and maybe sometimes a little scary. It's a show for the whole family, even though the leading man's role may be played by an actress, and the comic female role played by a man. I promise you the kids love it. It's different, it's great fun," she said. "Imagine if Mel Brooks' "Robin Hood-Men in Tights" met Benny Hill and Jim Carrey live on stage! That's our traditional British Panto!"
The Show is currently working with local charities, in ensuring as many children as possible see the show.

About the Principal Cast:
MIKE WINTERS
Mike Winters is an icon in British television and theatre. As part of Mike and Bernie Winters, an internationally -known British television show, he was half of one of Britain's most successful ever show business acts. Some of his box office records still stand after 25 years. He has worked with the biggest stars in the business – Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Rosemary Clooney, and The Beatles, who were guests three times on his show, as well as Tom Jones, Sophie Tucker, Rod Stewart and many more. Mike was the first to introduce The Beatles to comedy on television. The Fab Four appeared on his show three times. And, this was the first time The Beatles did Comedy on television. Born in London, Mike grew up in a family steeped in the culture of the English capital's unique Italian / Jewish boxing community. Surprisingly, his first love was neither comedy nor boxing. It was a musician that the world first started to take note of this multitalented young man as he won a clarinet scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music. A short period as a Jazz musician and journalist was quickly followed, however, by the two brothers' dramatic entry into show business. A heady diet of Royal command performances, a 15 year-long TV series, critical acclaim, and topping the bill at some of the world's greatest theatres have left Mike with an eternal place in the hearts of at least one generation of boomers. In the late 80s and early ‘90s, Mike wrote the life story of Angelo Dundee, the famous trainer and mentor to Muhammed Ali, as well as two mystery novels set in Miami Beach - where he now lives with his wife, Cassie, an internationally-renowned artist. Cassie is one of the Western world's acclaimed water colour artists, and between she and Mike they share an interest and enthusiasm for almost every aspect of the world of arts and entertainment. Over the years, Mike has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity. He served as CEO of When In Need Care (WINK) and organized numerous fundraising events that attracted international celebrities to Miami, including Prince Michael of Kent, Muhammed Ali and His Royal Highness Prince Edward.
