Star-in-a-Movie: Westcliffe Film Retreat's Cinema Weekend is a Getaway that Lets Everyone Star in a Movie
Westcliffe, CO April 1, 2004 -- Lights, camera, action! Westcliffe Films announces a new weekend cinema program that lets its participants star in a movie.
Held at the beautiful Westcliffe Film Retreat (50 miles southwest Colorado Springs) in the Rocky Mountains, it is an ideal opportunity for a long weekend getaway to star in a short film.
Each person involved in the weekend retreat will act in a short narrative (comedy/mystery/drama) film shot on DV and written/directed by award-winning filmmaker, Kenneth Wajda.
"This is something that people have dreamed of doing, being cast in a film, so they can do some acting and have a finished film to show for it," Wajda said. With a filmography of numerous short films, Wajda has produced the comedy short DOG GIRL and the drama THE OLD SCHOOL using inexperienced actors with excellent results.
Once registered, each person receives a script in the mail prior to the retreat weekend, so they can learn their lines. Then, Friday night is the rehearsal with all the actors. Saturday is the film shoot. Each person should be prepared to learn what all the roles on a film set are, and will participate in crew positions when they're off-camera.
Editing of the film is completed on Saturday night by Kenneth Wajda.
Sunday is the premiere of the film and each actor receives a DVD copy to take home to show family and friends.
The Star-in-a-Movie cinema weekend requires two or more participants for it to take place. (If you have someone who would be willing to attend with you, then we can tailor a weekend to your schedule.)
We shoot a DV short film using the people who are signed up for the weekend. (Taking into consideration age, gender, type, experience, etc.) We actually write a piece tailored to the group, so if we get a person who is a cop and is willing to bring his/her uniform along, we make use of a cop as a character.
The cost of the cinema weekend is $1190 per person and includes lodging at an inn in downtown Westcliffe, Colorado, a wonderful mountain town at the base of 14,000' peaks of the Rockies.
