Original Star Trek DVDs to contain lyrics with opening credits
May 26, 2004 -- Despite the fact that these lyrics were written as a joke, they will be added to the opening credit sequences of the DVDs. Rick Berman, the man behind these DVDs, feel they will add so much more to the DVDs.
"We feel that the lyrics will add more to these highly anticipated DVD versions of the classic Star Trek series.", Berman said. "This is what the fans really want, so it is what me must deliver.".
The lyrics, which were written by Roddenberry in a notebook simply as a joke, are highly requested to be included in the DVDs.
While speaking of these DVDs, Berman also spoke of the removal of the Doomsday Machine device from the episode of Star Trek title "The Doomsday Machine", in which Captain Kirk battled against the planet-eating machine.
"We know some of the fans will be somewhat disappointed, but we feel it is needed to tie the original series in with the later verions of Star Trek", Berman noted. "Replacing it with the popular Borg Cube is the only logical way to go.".
Look for the DVDs, as well as these changes, this fall.
